This will be my last post for a while as I’m off to Aus to visit my son for a month in sunny Sydney. Looking forward to the holiday but not to the travelling ….. it takes forever!! Am I going to miss the taxi? Don’t be bloody stupid!!
In case I do get withdrawal symptoms I thought I might go into the bush and see the wildlife ….. a pack of hungry Dingoes should make me feel at home if I can just get them into the back of a car for a while !!!
This week has been the same as usual but as it was a Bank Holiday weekend the Sunday night was very busy and loads of the usual fools. For some reason they like to get very drunk on the Sunday night because they don’t have work on the Monday ….then spend their day off suffering the after effects. Why not just do Saturday as normal …. recover on Sunday as usual then have Monday as a day off to do something different for once? It seems Bank Holiday (or is it Drunk Holiday) just means another night to get as wasted as possible ….. we Brits just can not handle the booze !!!!
In the gardens next to the taxi rank there is a ‘shelter’ for people to sit ….usually to munch their chips etc. but in the evenings it is mainly used as a toilet and a gathering place for teenagers who sit and drink and give a lot of verbal. The other night was no exception and there seemed to be agro between two girls who stood shouting and swearing at each other and getting very heated. Eventually one girl cracked and threw a bag of chips at the other who went berserk and charged at the chip thrower. A full on ‘girlie’ fight then ensued (which was quite entertaining) until the boys tried to separate them. The boys (who hang around the girls like flies on s**t) had, by then, chosen sides so more intervened and it all snowballed from there to a full blown scrap involving girls and boys.
Now this is what I call a good cabaret! Lots of nice gentle people having the good graces to entertain the poor bored taxi drivers! I’m not sure who choreographs the action in movies but they could learn from watching these charming children at play.
As usual just to spoil our floor show, the police arrived and some of the boys scattered leaving the scene like a rat up a drain pipe but most were rounded up and herded to the awaiting police van ……. except one boy still lying on the ground. Next to arrive was the ambulance (waste of my taxes) and the said lad was treated and all ordered to go home as no one saw anything.
Why do they insist on ruining our entertainment? Can’t they just leave them to it and let the parents, who don’t care where their children are, sort out the bodies later. It would save the tax payer money!! In fact, they could sell seats for this spectacle and make money!!
The next act a while later was a traffic stopper ….. and I mean stopper. For some strange reason a drunken idiot decided he should stand in the middle of the road and not let the cars pass … even to the stage of hitting the car roofs if they dared to try to avoid this self made roadblock. What insane ideas where in his head at the time no one will ever know …. not even himself. He managed to even stop the bus for a while by standing in front of it until he was removed by the police.
Oh how I’m going to miss all this excitement!! A whole month of worrying about these lovely people not being able to abuse me!! Shame!
