What can I say. Everyone is being affected by the cut-backs and taxi drivers are getting hit quite hard. Takings are down, down, down and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. The night-clubbers are not as plentiful as they used to be and more and more are drinking at home first as that works out an awful lot cheater than ‘pub crawling’. They now seem to be starting their clubbing around midnight rather than making a night of it in town. They don’t seem to have much disposable income these days to piss against the wall like they used to have, though there are still the hardened drinkers that work on the principle that booze comes before rent. The days of the couple having an evening meal out then a quiet drink before going home before midnight are long gone and it will be a few years before they are back. Things get so bad that half the pubs do not even open some nights and those that do are shut and finished about 11.00pm … no more late nights during the week. And don’t get me started on fuel prices!!
With all that said, there are still a few plonkers to deal with most nights. Some nights feel like “national dickheads night out” and they are all doing it here!
Our town center has just finished it’s revamp. Nice new trees planted at great expense. Then come the arseholes that try to rip them up and take them home. Mindless drunks!
In the nice new center there has opened a new cafe / wine bar. A bit better class than the average. The yobs don’t go in but they do hassle those that do and two of them stole an outside table and large umbrella just because they could.
Nice new stainless steel rubbish bins everywhere but they still just throw their chip and kebab wrappers on the ground rather than walk the two yards to the bin. Lazy bas**rds.
Is it me? Am I just not getting the youth thing? Is this now the “norm”? Is this the gene pool we want to breed from? I think we could do with a mass sterilization program to save mankind the bother of killing themselves through being too stupid to survive!
