Same Old Sh*t

Well, I have been a lazy bas**rd haven’t I ?.
No excuse to being away from here that long … things just seemed to pile up and little was getting done so I had a clear out of the rubbish on my ‘puter, unsubscribed from lots of email lists, got my money-making websites organized and now have some time to be here. So whats new … not a lot!!

Our esteemed council have decided to spend £3.5 MILLION on revamping the town center and that is so disorganized you would not believe it. We are on a temporary taxi rank which takes 6 cars … Saturday night can see 25 cars out … good thinking licensing! The contractors have no logic to where they work or dig holes so the traffic flow changes on a weekly basis. We used to drive around the town center gardens but now the new system is two-way traffic at one end with bus stops, widened footpath and more traffic, so when a bus stops … everything stops … as they never left enough room for passing cars etc. and the super new bus shelter that cost thousands has to be taken down as it blocks the entrance to the cinema and will be a hazard if there is a fire … good planners.

Apart from all the chaos, the job stays the same. Drunks, kebabs, fighting in the street … a great way to earn some money.
Had one the other night who said he would not pay the full fare as he knew his rights and if he paid just some of it he was not breaking the law. OK. Take the money, drive off with him still inside and don’t stop until I get him to where his money would have got him then stop and leave him in the middle of nowhere, miles from home in the rain and let him out to walk back.
It is sad that we now have to ask for the fare up front for anything over £10. The few ruin it for the many but you just can’t always trust the “better looking” fares. I find most genuine people pay up front without complaint as they understand what we put up with. Those that argue and refuse is no great loss as they probably wouldn’t have paid any way. I find saying “Sorry for asking for it upfront but ….” and most agree and say they wouldn’t do our job. After all, you don’t get a bus, train or aircraft ride and pay when you get off so whats the big difference with a taxi?

Group of ‘clubbers’ went past me to the kebab shop last night. They were all chatting and joking. Coming back to the rank they were shouting and by the time they reached the front of the rank they were throwing their food at each other then two lads ended up kicking the hell out of one lad. As he lay on the ground they kept kicking his head until he just lay still then actually punched his girlfriend who tried to stop them and almost knocked her out as well. One of the other girls then came over and kicked her in the head and then walked off with the boys as if nothing had happened.
What is it with these morons. One minute friends then next almost killing each other. I vote for Diazapam in the beer!!

As I said … nothing really changes. With the longer drinking time we just get the same old sh*t only later.

And what is it with traffic cones and drunks?? With all the town center dug up there are traffic cones and plastic barriers everywhere which people walk past all day then at night after a few drinks the cones become attractive. There’s the fools who use them as hats (very original) or the idiots that shout down them like megaphones (nothing new). There’s the plonkers that put them in the middle of the road (hilarious) and the prats that just throw them everywhere (dickheads). Then there are the plastic barriers that shout “Move me” at every passing drunk who must obey and the road signs that yell “Take me home, you know you need me”, only to find themselves abandoned in a doorway or someones garden. These cones and barriers have a lot to answer for!!
